Referral Program Terms

Effective date: [Insert date of publication] Last updated: 2026-08-23

These Referral Program Terms ("Program Terms") govern the Stolink referral rewards program and form part of, and should be read together with, the Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be a registered Customer, 18 years or older, to participate. You do not need to opt in separately — participation is automatic once you complete your first qualifying referral sale (§3).

2. How referral links work

  • Every registered Customer has a unique 6-character referral code (uppercase letters and digits, excluding easily-confused characters).
  • Sharing your link (?ref=YOURCODE on the Platform's normal URL) and having someone click it stores your code on their device (cookie/local storage) for 30 days.
  • If they sign up within that 30-day window, they become your referral, and you become their referring Partner. If the window lapses first, they sign up without any referral association.
  • If someone clicks more than one referral link before signing up, the most recently clicked link determines who gets credit.
  • Referral credit runs one level deep only: you earn from sales made by people who signed up through your link (your "children"), never from their referrals in turn ("grandchildren").

3. Unlocking your referral link

Your referral link is generated but locked — usable to earn Commission — only after you complete your first Completed referral sale (an Order where the Beneficiary is someone other than yourself, that reaches the "Completed" status described in the Terms of Service §7). Once unlocked, it stays unlocked permanently.

Self-purchases never count toward unlocking your link and never earn Commission, regardless of value.

4. When Commission is earned

Commission is calculated and recorded only when an Order's status reaches Completed — that is, after delivery, and after Financing Partner onboarding for loan-financed sales. An Order that is Rejected or Cancelled at any stage generates no Commission.

5. How Commission is calculated

Sale typeYour Commission ("Own Commission")
Self-purchaseKES 0 — does not qualify as a referral sale
Referral sale, paid in cashFlat KES 1,000
Referral sale, financed through a Financing PartnerScales linearly from KES 500 (Beneficiary pays exactly the Financing Partner's minimum required deposit) up to KES 1,000 (Beneficiary pays the full required deposit), based on the deposit actually paid. Capped at KES 1,000 even if the Beneficiary pays more than the full required deposit.

Parent override: if your referral (a "child" in your referral tree) completes a qualifying referral sale of their own, you additionally earn a flat KES 100 override commission — regardless of whether their sale was cash or financed. This applies one level only; you do not earn from your child's own referrals.

6. Commission status and payout

Each Commission record moves through three statuses:

  1. Earned — created automatically when the qualifying Order reaches Completed.
  2. Approved — after we review the sale to confirm it is genuine (see §7). Only Approved Commission can be paid out.
  3. Paid — once you request a payout of your Approved balance, it moves to Paid status and is queued for settlement.

Requesting a payout: from your dashboard, you can request payout of any Approved balance. This queues the amount for manual disbursement by us to your registered M-Pesa number — either as a direct Business-to-Customer (B2C) transfer or, at our discretion, a Customer-to-Customer (C2C) transfer from a company-held M-Pesa line — to the payout details you provide. We settle payout requests within 14 business days of your request.

You are responsible for providing accurate payout details (e.g. correct M-Pesa number). We are not liable for funds sent to an incorrect destination you provided.

7. Fraud and abuse

We manually review sales before approving Commission specifically to prevent abuse. The following will result in forfeiture of the associated Commission, and may result in account suspension or termination under the Terms of Service §11, and — where it amounts to fraud — referral to law enforcement:

  • Referring yourself using a second account or a proxy;
  • Submitting false Beneficiary, deposit, or Order information;
  • Colluding with a third party to simulate sales that are later cancelled or reversed;
  • Any other conduct designed to trigger Commission without a genuine underlying sale to a genuine Beneficiary.

We reserve the right to reverse or withhold Commission, including Commission already marked Approved or Paid, if we later determine it resulted from fraud or abuse.

8. Taxes

You are responsible for declaring and paying any personal tax obligations arising from Commission you earn, under applicable Kenyan tax law. Where we are required by the Income Tax Act (Cap 470) or any other Kenyan tax law to deduct withholding tax from a Commission payout, we will deduct it before disbursement and issue you the corresponding withholding tax certificate — the amount credited to your payout will be net of any such deduction.

9. Your relationship with us

Participating in the Referral Program does not make you an employee, agent, partner, or representative of Outering Tours and Safaris Ltd (trading as "Stolink") or Kaisa Traders. You have no authority to make representations, offers, or commitments on our behalf when referring others.

10. Changes to the Program

We may change Commission rates, the unlock condition, payout process, or discontinue the Program, at any time, with notice via the Platform. Changes apply prospectively only — they will not reduce Commission already in Earned, Approved, or Paid status at the time of the change.

11. Governing law

These Program Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, on the same terms as set out in the Terms of Service §16.
